After planning and budgeting – you deserve a reward!!
This fall, I’ve been telling you the story of how I’ve been earning money back with the new Tangerine Money Back Credit Card. I’m not spending outside my usual limits, just buying groceries, getting gas, paying bills, and I’m getting money back all the time.
I’m using my money back to do some Christmas shopping. I’m looking to earn over $100 money back in just 3 months, and that’s enough for some gifts for a few people on my list.
Books and bricks for the kids?
Maybe something sweet for my wife or a book for a buddy?
Heck, I might even just choose to spend some of my money back on a small treat for myself. I did, a roiboos tea latte 🙂
Or I could just cycle back the money onto my balance to save money on the things I buy everyday.
But the goal I set for myself at the beginning of this campaign was to get enough Money Back to be able to buy my sons their own hiking poles. I love exploring the mountains with my boys, and I’ve earned enough to buy a set so they can each have their own.
Is it wrong that I’ve already got them wrapped? Seriously, I have never been so ahead of the game before. Getting Money Back will do that to you, I guess!
That’s how I’m spending my money back, now it’s your turn!
When you use the Tangerine Money Back Credit Card, you select 2 categories you want to get 2% money back on with each purchase. You then get 1% money back on everything else you spend with the card.
When you have a Tangerine Savings Account, you get a 3rd category, and when you sign up for the card you get a double bonus money back for the first three months.
I spend about $900 a month in my categories, that’s worth over $120 in Money Back that a See how it all adds up?
When you have the Tangerine Money Back Credit Card, it’s easy to track how much you’re spending alongside how much money you’re getting back with your online statement:
It’s all so handy. The Tangerine Money Back Credit Card can even link to Apple Pay making this even easier.
Get the card, get some money back, and start treating yourself (or others!) I’ve got a contest to get you thinking about it, but you’d better enter quickly, because it ends soon!

We would spend about $120/week on groceries. that would be 1440 for 3 months, and the 2% back is 28.80 on that. For gas, we spend 200 on gas a month, so 600 in 3 months, 12$ cash back. I would just save the bash back rewards I get, or use them as a bill credit if needed.
We could definitely use a money back reward for groceries and gas! I pay around $200/month in downtown parking fees alone, so together with groceries, my total costs in these 2 categories is around $1,900 over the next 3 months. My 2% back would be about $38, which I would happily put towards a nice family dinner out instead! Thanks for the great giveaway!
Categories: Groceries and Recurring Bill Payments
Grocery: Around $500 per month plus at least $100 extra for Christmas entertaining, a total of $1600
Recurring Bill Payments: about $1500 per month for a total of $4500
Grand Total: $6100
2% Cash Back: $122
That would get some nice gifts for the family!
