Remembrance Day has taken on new meaning as I get older. Is it the kids? Is it appreciation of family? Is it understanding the story? Whatever it is, it means more.
When it comes to talking to your kids about war, there’s no easy way to do it. War is glamourized, and yet it is ugly. Remembrance Day makes it real when I take the boys to the cenotaph and talk about the members of our family that have fought. It’s a time for silent reflection and a vow of never again.
