We woke up to a foot of snow this weekend.  Yay. 🙁

Winter is here, and with it the pursuit of indoor activities.

One of our family’s favourite thing to do with the boys is bake. This easy pumpkin pie recipe is a favorite. Ghirardelli Triple Chocolate Brownies are dead easy and delicious. This easy banana bread recipe is making it’s way into rotation too.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

3 or 4 mushed bananas
1/3 cup melted butter
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cup flour
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
pinch salt

Put everything in a bowl. Mix it all together. Bake for an hour. Sometimes the boys will toss cake sprinkles on top, or chocolate chips. Since we made this the weekend after Halloween, Charlie tossed in some peanut butter bits.

The best kid friendly recipes are the ones that have just a few ingredients, don’t require any appliances, and involves mashing.  That’s this banana bread.

Charlie led the charge in his very cute apron made by our friend Carrie from Two Turtles Creations.

I have been using this recipe for a few years with my high school special needs classes. For some reason people always give me, while I am in the class, “old bananas”. Maybe it’s because they know we work on cooking skills a lot. Thanks for sharing this recipe and I hope you and the family are still making great memories in the kitchen.
