We love our new Hyundai Santa Fe XL. Check that, my wife loves her new Santa Fe XL and I love it too.
When it came time to upgrade our (her) 2011 Santa Fe, it was an easy decision for us to stick with the same manufacturer.
The Hyundai Santa Fe has undergone a recent styling reboot and everything about this new model fit perfectly for what we need.
With older boys (now 8 and 10) we needed a little extra room in the back seats for carpooling and carrying gear.
THE BIG THINGS
The new Hyundai Santa Fe XL is bigger. The new design feels more squat and powerful and it measures up to the look.
There’s an extra few inches on the back end that give the room for that extra row of seats, extra bags of hockey gear, bikes, snowboards, and whatever else a family with growing boys needs to haul around.
We’re only a family of 4, we fit without the extra row of seats, but already on summer vacation it saved us by only taking one vehicle when extended family visited, and by volunteering to carpool for after school activities.
The engine is also a big thing here. We live on top of a hill, and my wife loves having some extra power to breeze home.
THE LITTLE THINGS
It is the little things that make or break a car purchase for me. Going through the big features is easy to narrow a list down, but it’s the little things like how the dash works, what the trim features are, and how comfortable the seats feel that makes or breaks the purchase.
For us, the Hyundai Santa Fe XL gets all the little things right. We upgraded the trim level to get remote entry for the trunk, heated steering wheel, and heated seats in the middle row.
The dash and display is elegant, easy to understand, and everything we need is within reach.
THE VERDICT
The 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe XL checks all the boxes for a growing family. It’s affordable, it’s got the size and power and style we were looking for. Upgrading from old to new and sticking with Hyundai was a no brainer for us!
