Sleep Belt Helps Moms Have Hands Free Snuggling

[twitter]Multitasking. We love to do it. Sometimes, it’s a little tough.

When I was just a parent to cats, there was a rule with my girlfriend. When a cat is sleeping on you, you cannot get up. You have “cats” and it is then incumbent upon the other person to move the blanket, get a drink, answer the phone, whatever.

Same for babies. When a babe is sleeping on you, you do not move. SleepBelt is a tool that will add a little flexibility to that rule.

Designed in Canada, SleepBelt is a large flexible belt that you wrap around your middle and tuck your babe in to keep your hands free. Think of it as a baby sling for sitting down. Your infant is getting quality #SnuggleTime against your body, all the while your arms are free to flip through a magazine, tablet, or just have a rest.

I sent SleepBelt out to a couple of new moms I know to test out. My sister tried it with my 4 month old  niece, Margot.

Unfortunately, Margot was a little big for the belt. “I would have loved to have had this when Margot was under 8 weeks,” she said. “She slept a lot on people’s chests, and it would have been nice.” So my sister packaged it up and sent it to my friend Tiffani and her newborn Stephanie who found it perfect for #SnuggleTime.

“More importantly, Stephanie seems to love it. She was super fussy so I put it on, put her in and she was alert, looking around and was really comfortable. So was I,” she says. “I was texting people on my Blackberry and before you know it, she was sleeping on my chest so sweetly and so peacefully. I will recommend it.”

Both moms commented how soft the fabric was and the remarked on the quality of the design. My sister thinks it should be known that while SleepBelt is great for sitting and being hands free, it would be a little precarious if you tried to stand up and use it as a sling and the package does include a warning against that behaviour.  If you would like to stand up while using the SleepBelt you must support the baby. The SleepBelt does not support the baby if you stand up or walk around.

SleepBelt is great for travelling, breastfeeding, and relaxing with a sleeping babe and enjoying skin-to-skin #SnuggleTime.

Sound good? Here’s how you could win one for yourself or a newborn friend.
