I have too much stuff. My kids have too much stuff.
Before Santa arrives each year, the kids clean out the toy room, donate the stuff they no longer play with, to make room for the new gear under the tree.
Try as I might to stick to the “4 Gift Rule,” the needle always gets moved a little too far and the gifts stack up. So the kids end up with too much stuff and, it seems, 3 times a year we’re cleaning out old to make room for new.
It’s not just a LEGO, Hot Wheels, board game problem. I need to do this too.
I don’t want to say I’m a hoarder, but I have a hard time throwing things out. I found an old Palm Pilot this weekend. I still have an iPhone 3G in a bin in my office. The boys still peck away at an original iPad. Then there’s the cables, cords, and clutter that comes with never. throwing. anything. out.
If you want to save money on Christmas shopping this year, trade in the old stuff at Best Buy, get a gift card for your trade-ins, and then upgrade to new stuff. All without adding clutter.
Here’s how it works:
Best Buy’s Trade-In Program is an easy way to treat yourself or give anyone on your holiday list what they really want!
Estimate value: Choose from the Trade-In categories listed online to estimate your product value. The age, condition and the original accessories included will affect the Trade-In value of your item. Best Buy Canada evaluates your device and then provides a competitive offer.
So the old iPad, the old iPhones, and the old Macbook Pro and more are worth real Christmas money. Can you believe I have nearly $500 just lying around in storage bins in my office? This is the kind of garage sale I like. There’s a wide range of devices you can trade-in, all the way back to the Microsoft Zune. Seriously. They’re just sitting in a drawer doing nothing, why not flip them into some new gear?
Get gift cards: Bring your items to the store to claim your gift card.
What Will You Buy?
I’d sure like a Jack Spade iPhone 6 folio case that doubles as a wallet. Portable power is the new memory. We’re on our phones so much, a portable charger like the PNY PowerPack is great. The Case-Mate Rebecca Minkoff wristlet is a great solution for ladies who just end up carrying their phone and ID.
